orionsampledesigns.slb and parts management

Why is it that when I remove the orionsampledesigns.slb from the custom lib the next time I start the program it does a re-install of the software? If this is an optional lib then I should be able to remove it right?

Any thoughts on how to move/copy parts from one Footprint, Symbol or Part lib to another? I thought this was possible in previous versions. What about being able to pick a part on the schematic or layout and right click and be able to save the symbol, footprint or part into the proper lib by selecting which parts to save before saving. This allows copying of parts in a simple way from computer to computer. By creating a drawing file and keeping the created parts and pieces they can be reloaded by opening the drawing right clicking and saving.

Deleting a symbol from what is can see - it has to be loaded into symbol editor then deleted. Can a simple right click "Remove Symbol like in the "manage parts" or the "Part Taxonomy" window be added so it's not a multi-step process?

Any updates on the software for another update release?

If you remove a library and don't want PCB123 to put it back delete the short cut from your desktop and create a new shortcut from the executable found in the installation folder. To prevent PCB123 from replacing the libraries when you double click on a 123 design file, you can rename the pcb123.exe found in the installation folder then right click on a .123 file select the open with > choose program option and choose the newly named .exe file to open the file . Don't forget to check the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file box to make the change stick.

Moving footprints can be done using the manage footprints tool found under the Design Menu on the PCB123 layout. At this time a similar tool does not exist for the schematic. The only way to move schematic symbols to another library is to open a symbol in the symbol editor and save to a new library. The only way to move libraries to to copy the entire library file to its new location.

Deleting a symbol can only be done as you described. I will submit your feed back to our development team.

I have already submitted requests for improved library management tools and easier symbol editing and save options. I will provide your feedback to our development team as well. I don't know when the next PCB123 release will be made available but I will keep you posted.

Please feel free to contact customer support if you have any questions.
