Placing and Editing ports

You will need to use the various ports to add and change nets assigned to wires. You can use off page ports to represent connections to other pages and the global port for same page connections that are not power or ground.

You may want to name the port before placing it.
1. Select the desired port. Select Insert Add Port or use the Add Port tool bar shown below.

2. After you select the desired port, look to the top section of the Edit Panel. There enter the net name you would like to use in the Net Name(s) section. If you do not see the Edit Panel select View Toolbars Edit Panel.

3. Finally, you can place the port. If you have already placed the port and must rename it, you should first left click on the port to select it. Now you can edit the Net Name in the top section of the Edit Panel. Left click in the schematic window to place the newly renamed port.

Thanks for the feedback. I can see some of the issues you reported. If you need to edit a net name from the Net Assignment field you can use the keyboard left or right arrow keys to place the cursor in the field to edit the text. I will pass along your feedback to our developer.

The right click context menu item Rename net will take a complete or subset of a net and change the nets name. This option only allows you to create new nets. It will not allow you to enter in a netname that already exists on your design.

I seem to have many items under my last used nets list. I did notice that after I used new net names I did not see them in my list. After I switched tools and returned to adding ports. I will report this issue to our developer.

I am using Version 5.2.0.0 and I can not see the Net Assignment portion of the Edit Panel. Is it located somewhere else in this version?

You can only see the Net Assignment section when you have the add port tool selected or when you have a port selected. The Port Attributes section contains the Net Assignment field and will be at the top of the Edit Panel as shown below.
