Hello!

To generate the NC Drill file using Altium Designer, go to File > Fabrication Outputs > NC Drill Files, and the NC Drill Set Up window will open.

Confirm that the Units are in Inches and the Format is 2:4; and that the remainder of default settings are chosen and saved.

Hello!

Here is some more helpful information about the NC Drill file generation in Altium Designer. Please find attached the instructions in pdf format for generating the NC Drill file in Altium. This document shows the basic steps (similar to the other documents) along with the NC Drill Setup window options. When generating the drill file for different services, you may wish to modify the selections depending on the service type you are ordering.

For our PCB Quickturn Services, including Value Proto, the example shown has the standard options that should be chosen. If you are ordering through our PCB Full Feature and PCB Custom Quote.

PCB Custom Quote product lines, you may wish (depending on your design) to make changes under the Other section. If you wish to generate separate files for plated and non-plated holes, slots, and/or route paths, you can make the proper selections here.

When generating the NC Drill files from the .pcb or .pcbdoc, Altium will output two types of drill files; the EIA RS-244 and ASCII format. Although both can be used, the ASCII format is preferred because when opened in a text editor the file can be read and edited if needed. See attached Drill Examples in Notepad.jpg; this is what the files look like opened in a standard text editor.
