Ordering and the tree branches of status

    by Justin » Mon May 14, 2012 9:30 am

I would like to ask for some form of documentation regarding the meaning of the "STATUS" field within the "Recent Orders". For example, Sunstone starts with "RECEIVED" if all necessary files are mapped and paid for as per Sunstone's automatic email notice, but is then moved to "PREPROCESSING". After "PREPROCESSING", there can be "ENGINEERING". Are all processes involved in status a single line or is it a tree like structure? What are the meanings to all these structures? I know this is not a simple question and I am asking a lot.

Hello Justin!

You have the RECEIVED status definition, and then there is PRE-PROCESSING... this is where the order is taken from RECEIVED and "staged" for processing. In other words it's added to a QUEUE. In this stage some changes to files can still be made. There are a few differences in the products and what happens in each stage, so these descriptions are a little vague to cover all. In the PRE-PROCESSING stage we are confirming that we have everything needed (in detail) to process the order. We are also checking details to confirm that there are no issues - missing files, wrong files uploaded, hole sizes present, etc.

ENGINEERING is where the files have actually been mapped to layers, everything is present and the board is waiting to be laid up onto a panel for production. There are a few more steps (details) here for PCB Full Feature products than there are for Quick Turn PCB products. At any time during these steps, the order can be placed in a HOLD status; either at your request or other issues such as files, possible production issues, order form clarification, etc. It's basically a 'single line' status movement rather than a tree like structure. I hope this answers your questions - do let me know if you would like more clarification or detail.

Here is a list of the status that you might see on our website.

Pending - Your order has been submitted but has not yet been paid for.

Incomplete - An order has been submitted but is missing file information. Either the board files for the order have not been submitted or the layer mapping is incomplete.

Received - Your submitted order is complete and we will be reviewing your files shortly.
Preprocessing - We are now reviewing your board files.

On Hold for Reauthorization - The price of your board has increased and we require your approval to proceed. This usually happens if the board size submitted on your order does not match the actual board size. We will send you an email with details.
Hold - We have found an issue that will need to be reviewed before we can proceed with your order. We will send you an email with details.

Engineering - Your order is now in ready to go to manufacturing.

In Process - Your order is now in manufacturing.

Shipped - Your order has shipped. You can select the order number to find your tracking number.
