pcb123 order form fails, no part revision, solution

Problem: When I go to order, the online form auto-fills everything but the Part Revision section. When I try to press the ‘Check Out’ button, I receive an error telling me that I must enter a revision number. However, the Part Revision section is grayed out and will not allow input. Solution: On yo...

Re: MAC OS X

Mac users have been able to run either a dual boot with windows or a windows emulator such as Boot Camp which will allow windows to run in parallel with your macos.
PCB123 running on a mac is not supported, but you should be able to get it running with little or no trouble.

tips to setup & order for wide trace/space

Problem; you are trying to order a 3 oz copper board but the order form keeps telling you your trace/space is only 6mils. This is not necessarily because you didn't route your board with big fat traces and sufficient spacing to keep from shorting, it is because your default setup has not bee updated...

Full Feature hold notice, exposed copper at board edge.

A very high percentage of orders are placed on hold due to insufficient board edge to copper clearance. We care about exposed copper at the board edge for a couple of reasons. [*]Copper can tear when it is routed, leaving strings that can short to adjacent layers. [*]Exposed copper can wick solder i...

Full Feature hold notice, fabrication notes:

Q: What is the single most common reason for a Full Feature order to go on hold? A: Fabrication drawing notes or instructions that conflict with order form selections or Sunstone Printed Circuits Manufacturing Capabilities. Production notes commonly call for things that are not needed on a PCB proto...

How can I keep my Full Feature order off hold?

If you are sure that your design will pass dfm checks, that all layers have generated correctly and that your gerber files look like you expect You can choose not to have us perform a complimentary design review. Simply uncheck the box at the bottom of the order form reading "Add Free Design Review"...

Tips for single layer board orders.

<t>1. Single layer boards, (slb) with through hole components typically have all of the copper on the 'bottom', 'secondary', or 'solder side' of the board in order to provide a more robust solder joint. Through hole components will be VERY difficult to solder if copper is on the component side of th...

Why you should keep your layer count even.

<t>When your design requirements add up to an odd number of layers, it almost always makes sense to add another layer. <br/> There are several good reasons for this; <br/> An extra ground plane can be used to provide a more robust signal return.<br/> Board construction is more likely to be symmetric...
