Can I edit the solder paste layer?

I would like to edit the solder paste layer for my D2PAK footprint so I get a segmented paste pattern on the large (drain) pad. The paste mask opening that gets automatically generated has an opening the same size as the pad, but my PCB gurus tell me this will result in too much paste being screened...

Snap to cursor works backwards

Gentlemen, The "Find object and snap it to cursor" function on the PCB layout screen seems to work backwards. When I enter the reference designator for a part I want to place, PCB123 snaps my cursor to the part's current location instead of bringing the part to my cursor. In addition, the program ch...

Re:Replacing a part

Here is something that works for me, so long as the new part and the old part have the same PCB footprint. First add the new part to your schematic and connect it in parallel with the part you want to replace. Don't delete the old part yet, though. Now go to the PCB Board and place the new part on t...

Re:How to create a footprint with a round pin array

<t>Hi Sal, Thank you for the tip. Last time I did this I did all the trig and changed the grid to get the pins in the right place. Your way is much easier. I have one small correction and a suggestion. First, you have to select View User Preferences to change the rotation increment before you do Des...

Footprints with multiple pins for a single electrical connection.

<t>Is there a way to create a footprint with multiple pads connected to a single pin on the part's schematic symbol? As an example, I have a transistor in an SOT223 package, where both the center pin on one edge and the heat sink tab are connected to the collector. I don't want to have two collector...

Re:Footprints with multiple pins for a single electrical connection.

<t>Thank you for the answers and the suggestion. I can see where using a hidden pin could work sometimes, but I already have logic with hidden power and ground pins on my schematic, and not all of my collectors are attached to the same net. For now, I'll just create a schematic symbol with multiple ...
