Characteristic Impedance Calculation

I'm using the following calculator to compute the characteristic impedance of a trace: https://chemandy.com/calculators/coplanar-waveguide-with-ground-calculator.htm The question I have is what is the dielectric thickness on a four layer board if the total thickness of the board is 0.062"? If the tr...

Re: Pad restrictions

Any help on making a 22.35mm x 28.70mm exposed ground pad would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Pad restrictions

istvanb, thanks for the response. I'm actually trying to build a part and I need a 22.35mm x 28.70mm exposed pad for the ground pin on the part. I am not aware of anyway to do a copper pour that would be exposed for soldering the part on.

Pad restrictions

Is there a 1" restriction on the pad width/height? I'm building a part that has a 22.35mm x 28.70mm ground pad. When a attempt to make the surface pad with those dimensions I get the error "Please enter a pad height greater than zero and less than 1 inch". What is the proposed way around this? Thank...

Moving a Part without the Trace

I have a board that is laid out and I just received some new requirements. In order to make things fit on the existing board I need to move a couple parts just a little. When I move the part the software wants to move the routed traces as well. Is there a way to just move the part and not the traces...

Re: Net/Track Issue

Thanks Sal...You're right, I used the freestyle routing tool because I wanted to route the trace differently then how the ratsnest was configured. It does appear that both ends are attached to the correct pins, I was just worried when I noticed this.

Net/Track Issue

I'm currently laying out a board and am having an issue with a "Track". I have routed this track and everything looks fine. However, when I highlight the track the information that pops up states that the Start and End points are the same, in this case U71.1. To me, this indicates that it is not con...

PC/104 board

I'm building a board that conforms to the PC/104 dimensions and mounting holes. When I run the DRC, I get four errors that state the mounting holes are to close to the board outline. How does one fix this error but still conform to the PC/104 standards?

Thanks

Editing Schematic Symbol

<t>I have designed a board (schematic and layout) and need to make some changes to it. Mainly the microcontroller symbol. When I first built the symbol I only added the pins that I knew at the time that I would need. That has since change and I now need to edit the symbol and add a few more pins. I ...

Re:Editing Schematic Symbol

<t>Thank you for your quick reply. Do you have a better idea about when you might have this feature available? The problem with deleting the current part and adding a new part is that all the routing that I did to the original part will be lost and I'd have to re-route 50 or so connections. I really...
