Silkscreen in 5.0.2

Postby gmccardle » Fri Nov 08, 2013 8:59 am

In updating to v5.0.2.0 PCB123 moves the silkscreen of ref designators on a quite a few parts. I noticed this because a colleague is using and I commented that the silk was bad on a board of theirs that I was reviewing, but it was fine on their PC. At first I thought it was an issue with our revision control software, but they updated to and the refdes silkscreens were then messed up on his.

I believe we've only found this issue to be on the bottom silkscreen. It doesn't seem to be all parts, just some of them.

This is the result of a bug in version prior to V5.0.2. When a part is moved to the bottom side of the board in older versions it mirrored the part, but also displaced it from the exact mirrored position. The user would then account for the error by moving the reference designator into the expected position. Now when you open the layout in the latest release PCB123 is accounting for the bug and moving the reference designator where the software expected it. This results in bottom side reference designators not being where you last left them. I appologize for the inconvenience but this is the result of a bug fix.
