Pad restrictions

Postby mike4viper » Tue Jul 19, 2016 10:24 am

Is there a 1" restriction on the pad width/height? I'm building a part that has a 22.35mm x 28.70mm ground pad. When a attempt to make the surface pad with those dimensions I get the error "Please enter a pad height greater than zero and less than 1 inch". What is the proposed way around this?

Thank you,
Mike

If I understand your question correctly then you need to use the draw polygon function, this is how I create copper pours.

istvanb, thanks for the response. I'm actually trying to build a part and I need a 22.35mm x 28.70mm exposed pad for the ground pin on the part. I am not aware of anyway to do a copper pour that would be exposed for soldering the part on.

Go to the schemtic editor and name your ground wire as "GND" or something like that by pressing F9 on the wire.

Now go to the Layout editor select the polygon tool then select "filled polygon" in the top left corner, select polygon net as "GND" and then draw your polygon. This new polygon will act like you ground.

You can have as many of these copper pours as you want. Take a look at the attachment where T+, T- and the Start button grounds are connected with a polygon.
