Options for Overworked Engineers - Screaming Circuits in the Press

Postby Nolan Johnson » Mon May 14, 2012 9:30 am

Our friends at Screaming Circuits (www.screamingcircuits.com) are consistently thought leaders in the PCB quickturn prototype-quantity assembly space. They see the future of the industry and they do good work. That is a powerful combination to have on your side!
Manufacturing.net has just published a whitepaper from Screaming Circuits' Joe Zaccari, titled"Overworked Engineers Have A "Web" Of Options."This is a great discussion of the ongoing resource and time constraints that squeeze designers. (http://www.manufacturing.net/articles/2012/02/overworked-engineers-have-a-web-of-options)
This quote about Screaming Circuits' customer survey information tells much of the story:
"..when asked what they felt was the most difficult challenge in getting pcb prototypes built, survey respondents [PCB designers] said: Sourcing components 35 percent. Just coordinating the overall process 21 percent. Getting PCBs fabricated 14 percent. Getting the order placed 10 percent. Waiting for the finished prototypes 10 percent. Creating the file set 7 percent." Ultimately, the e-commerce model pioneered by Sunstone, and Screaming Circuits both helps bring new and powerful resources to otherwise frustrated design engineers and prototype development teams.
Enjoy the article, and then think again about where your design team's project budget dollar is best spent.
