PCB123 dxf import export is fairly limited and you really don't have any control over the format that is exported.

You may want to adjust your Corel settings as discussed in the forum postbelow.

I have tried to export PCB as .dxf filein order to see in coral draw editor. I have saved the file(entire). But, I could not able to import it in to Coral Draw. Why? Is there any other way to solve this issue? thanks

Thanks for your reply. So, my circuit is OK. I have1 clarification pl. Clarification 1: How can I take the print out of the Top Layer (Tracks and Pads)and Silk layer(Component details and markings) seperately before ordering PCB? It should be mirrored or don't need to mirror the PCB Drawing? thanks once again.

Help needed to design PCB for SMD and thro hole components t

Postby softlab » Mon May 14, 2012 9:30 am

Dear Sir, I am new to even for PCB designing. Just few days ago I downloaded this software and start the trial PCB design. I encountered a problem. I have to place both SMD and thro hole components in a single PCB. I am very much confused about which components to place which side. I like to prefer all the solderings should be on same side of PCB. I already drawn PCB circuit using this software. But, I have small confusion here. That is, when I press view - "top layer" button, it displays all the SMD and Thro' hole components in Red color (including pads for SMD components). But, when I press view - "bottom layer" button, It shows thro' hole components in blue color and all other SMD components in Red color. If so, there can't be a connection between Thro' hole and SMD components. Am I right? How can I solve this issue? Also, I have placed all the SMD and thro' hole components on same side of PCB and I have drawn the circuits. Is this correct? Or should I reverse the components using "Opposite Side" menu? Help needed. Thanks

What you are seeing is ok. The surface mount parts are always red in this case because pads only exist for these part on the top layer which is red by default. If you were to set the opposite property for one of your surface mount parts the part would be mirrored and you would only see the pads for this part in blue.

The through holes have pads on both the top and bottom layers so when you select the Top layer the pads appear red and when the bottom is selected the pads are blue. Since all of your routing is done on the top layer your connection between parts are made by routing traces between pads using the freestyle routing tool, just as you have started to do on this layout.

Through holes are easy enough to make connections to since you can start and end traces from any layer to make connections. Once you start routing connections to surface mount parts on differenet layers you will need to start using vias. Please review the forum post on how to route vias for more information.

Make sure to reviewyour layout thoroughly before submitting an order. For a final print preview of your layout you should select File Print Artwork. There you can print the top layer and the top silkscreen together 1:1 ratio to confirm the artwork is correct.

You should not mirror objects on the top layer. When you view your layout any text on the top layer should beright reading. Text on the bottom layer should be mirrored. You should see the board as viewed from from the top of the board straight through to the bottom.
