Got new computer, old one was XP new one is Windows 7

Postby reph11 » Mon Aug 20, 2012 6:37 am

The powers that be here at work took away my old machine and replaced it with a new one. The old one is XP the new one is Windows 7. How can I get my parts libraries moved? I would really like to not need to rebuild them if at all possible.

You just need to copy the lib folder from your old computer to the new machine. The post below explains where to put the folder.

OK, I found where it goes. So I copied from the XP machine to the Windows 7 machine. There are no components there that were created by me in the old machine in the new one.
I have a limited time to get things transfered before the hard drive in the old machine gets re-formatted.

Did you take the entire lib folder from XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PCB123 and place it in win 7 C:\ProgramData\PCB123? Make sure you did not put the folder in program files. You must place the files in ProgramData. This is a hidden folder and you need to make sure you can see hidden files and folders. This link will explain how to do so.

Cockpit error. I was looking in the wrong area. Should of been lokking in the "all users" directory. Looks like all is kosher now!
Thanks much for the help.
