Cu conductor thickness

Postby Philzero » Thu May 22, 2014 4:53 am

Hi,

I am looking for a PCB for a special application. The board is meant to be used in an extreme cryogenic environment and I need the copper lines of the thinnest possible cross-section to limit their heat conductivity.

How thick is the copper conductor layer you use in your board? Are there different thicknesses available? If so, what is the smallest thickness you can offer? Do you offer any other metals for the conductor layer besides copper?

What is the minimal width you can do for a full-sized board? There is some information about smaller lines than 0.005 in. I do not need complicated routing, just some parallel thin lines with relatively large spacing between them.

Thank you for your help,
Philip

Our PCBexpress, PCB123, and Value Proto services can offer 6 mil traces.

Our Full Feature service offers 5 mil traces.

Our Custom Quote service can offer down to 4 mil traces.

The above trace width is with a finished 1 oz Cu.

Dear Sal,

thank you for the information. Would it also be possible to get thinner copper, i.e. 0.5 oz Cu?

Yours,
Philip

You can get < 1 oz Cu through our Custom Quote service, but the holes will have < .0005" plating which is less than what IPC-6012 calls for.
